How the estimate works
Four workload shapes, four short formulas, nothing hidden. The calculator applies them to your numbers, and these cards show the mechanics so you can check the math by hand.
Video streaming
Viewers times watch time times bitrate. One hour of 1080p at 5 Mbps moves about 2.25 GB per viewer, so 2,000 daily viewers watching 45 minutes each add up to roughly 100 TB a month. Bitrate is the lever: the same audience in 4K more than triples the bill.
Software delivery
Downloads times package size. 200,000 monthly downloads of a 250 MB installer come to 50 TB. Release weeks spike far above the average, and the calculator prices the monthly total, which is how CDN billing actually works.
Game distribution
Two flows added together: full builds for new players and patches for the whole player base. 5,000 installs of a 30 GB build plus 50,000 patches of 1.5 GB come to about 225 TB a month, and a big launch can double that.
Websites and files
Views times average transfer. Ten million page views at 3 MB each come to 30 TB a month. Static assets cache well on the edge, so this is usually the cheapest traffic shape per user served.
What actually drives a CDN bill
The rate per terabyte
Most providers publish tiered rates that fall with volume. Ours start at $5 per TB and end at $2.50 per TB at scale. The calculator reads every table at your exact volume, so a teaser rate on a pricing page never hides the real monthly total.
Where your traffic lands
Many networks price each region separately, and delivery into Asia often costs 2 to 4 times more than North America. BlazingCDN charges the same rate in every region, and competitor totals here are priced on a 34/33/33 split across North America, Europe and Asia.
Meters beyond bandwidth
Some bills run more than one meter. Google Cloud CDN meters egress, cache fill and cache lookups, and CloudFront adds request charges on top of transfer. BlazingCDN bills one meter: terabytes delivered.
Check the math, one competitor at a time
Every card opens a detailed page that prices the same traffic from both published tables and says plainly where the other network is the better buy. The whole series lives on one comparison hub.
Free, Pro and Business are published. Enterprise, the tier that carries heavy traffic, is widely reported to start around $5,000 a month.
Transfer is one meter of several. At 200 TB the total is $3,520 on their flat plan and $12,975 pay as you go, against our $765.
They publish no CDN price at all. The one delivery figure they do publish, $0.005 per GB on Akamai Cloud, is exactly our entry rate.
Billed in credits, where one credit buys 1,000 transformations or 1 GB. Video works out at about $207 a terabyte.
Their published table stops at about 20 TB. That month is $2,087 against our $92.50.
Azure CDN Standard from Microsoft retires on 30 September 2027, and Front Door publishes rates only up to 150 TB.
Their $2 a terabyte rate applies from 1 PB on the 10 PoP network. Below a petabyte we are cheaper than both of their networks.
Three meters on one terabyte: egress, cache fill and a charge on every cache lookup. At 200 TB that is $10,527 against our $765.
One plan covers up to 250 TB for $990. It is still $990 at 50 TB, where ours is $215.
Video delivery is billed per minute watched, so the lower your bitrate, the more you pay per byte.
Three price zones. The same 200 TB is $3,600, $7,200 or $11,200 depending on which continent it lands in.
